Title:  (SR500) Public-Private Partnerships Overview (P3 101)
Date/Time:  8/23/2013 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM Eastern Time
Description:  Public-Private Partnerships (P3s) are becoming widely recognized as a potentially viable option to advance projects, thereby complementing the Federal-aid program. The structure of private participation varies depending on specific aspects of a project. No single model has emerged as dominant; instead, the extent of private debt and equity capacity and the degree of involvement in design, construction, finance, management, and operation differ from project to project. The webinar presents participants with an overview of funding options, essential elements of successful partnerships, and the role and process involved in implementing P3s. The goal of this session is to provide a high-level introduction to P3s, which includes: An overview of the problems facing the transportation industry that are spurring greater consideration of P3s; A discussion of the fundamentals of P3s, including their benefits and challenges; A description of FHWA's role as related to P3s; A review of several case studies; A discussion of ways to protect the public interest.
