Title: (SR500) Transportation Planning Implications of Census 2010 in New Urbanized Areas
Event Type: Training
Date/Time: 10/3/2013 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM EST
Approval Status: Confirmed
The 2010 Census brought significant changes to census geography, including designation of new urbanized areas (UZAs) from formerly rural areas and expansion of UZA boundaries to encompass formerly rural communities within the UZA. This Webinar will describe the impacts of these changes on the transportation planning activities in these new and enlarged UZAs. The presentation will identify the key procedural steps that should be taken now by transit providers, MPOs, and States to ensure that metropolitan planning processes in these new and expanded UZAs assume their new and changed responsibilities timely and effectively. By the end of the webinar, participants should have a full understanding of both the concept and organizational workings of the MPO in managing the metropolitan planning process, as well as their roles in the key preparatory steps in establishing the planning program.
