COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This training is one in a series of introductory modules on the topic of Transportation Performance Management. This training will cover developing performance measures.

The training will give an overview of performance measures. It will go into FHWA's role in developing performance measures. It will go over the criteria for developing effective performance measures. Next, it will discuss the importance of data in developing performance measures, tools available to collect that data and considerations for analysis of the data. Lastly, we will look at how performance measurement information can be used.

OUTCOMES:

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain why performance measures are important
  • Explain the FHWA's role in developing performance measures
  • Describe the criteria an effective performance measure must meet
  • Recognize the importance of data in developing performance measures
  • Explain how performance measurement information is used

TARGET AUDIENCE:

The target audience for this training will be all FHWA employees.
