The effects of steam instability, scour, erosion, and stream aggradation and degradation are covered. Countermeasures to these problems are discussed. This course concentrates on visual keys to detecting scour and stream instability problems and provides an introduction to portable scour monitoring instrumentation. The course emphasizes inspection guidelines to complete the hydraulic and scour-related coding requirements of the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS). This course can be offered as a 1-day module in conjunction with the 3-day 135046 or as a stand-alone presentation.
