This course reviews what a job hazard analysis is and why it should be performed, identifies the information that should be documented during a job hazard analysis, and provides example jobs and potential hazards that may be encountered.

The purpose of this training is to explain what a job hazard analysis is and offer guidelines to help you conduct a step-by-step analysis. This information should be used to analyze jobs and recognize workplace hazards. This course contains 3 lessons:

Lesson 1: Job Hazard Analysis Overview

Lesson 2: Job Hazard Analysis Forms

Lesson 3: Job Hazard Examples

Please refer to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Website (Safety Manual) for a Job Hazard Analysis Form. It can also be found on the OSHA Website under Safety Manual and Forms. Even if your agency is not directly governed by OSHA, your state agency version of OSHA has most likely adopted the standards set forth by OSHA, which will be discussed in this training.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain what job hazard analysis is, and why it is important
  • Describe the types of information that should be documented in a Job Hazard Analysis Form
  • Given an example situation, list potential hazards
