Training Options
NHI offers three types of training: Instructor-led, Web-based, and Web-conference training. Learn which type of training is best for you.

NHI offers three types of training.
- Instructor-led (ILT): These courses are held in-person and led by an instructor. In order to open a session, it must be requested to be hosted by a transportation organization. Once the session is opened, other individuals may sign up for that session (based on availability).
- Web conference (WCT): A live, online training that takes place at a set time. Web-conference training follows the same procedure as instructor-led training (it must be hosted by a transportation organization).
- Web based (WBT): An online course that is available 24/7. Participants can control the pace at which they complete the course, and may return to it as many times as they wish, although the final exams can only be completed for a score once.
Certain "blended" courses may combine two or three of these methods (for example, a course may have a Web-based component that must be completed before the instructor-led component).
Please note that all NHI training is free for FHWA employees.
